Learning is an Experience

As parents, we aim for our children to succeed in learning. But not all parents are trained as educators. What parents need are practical examples of how to support their children’s learning. To think like teachers, we don’t need to understand teacher jargon, devote hours to reading lengthy lesson plans or buy the latest learning resources. Parents can find opportunities to engage their child in learning through life experiences. By tuning in to your child’s questions and by setting time for conversations, we can help them experience learning first-hand.

QUICK WINS

Weekly trips to the supermarket can elicit so many learning opportunities. Without going to in-depth about pounds and kilograms, I asked Morgan to observe what will happen to the red needle on the scale if she places different objects on it. She experimented with the scale and exclaimed, “The red needle is moving!”
